Friuli Venezia Giulia
The region
consist in a flat landscape on the border with Slovenia on the east and Austria on the north.
My Suggestions:
As the ancient Roman left many remarkable vestiges , the one that I
think is a must is the Basilica of Aquileia (Unesco World Heritage Site)
that houses splendid well preserved mosaics quite well kept (www.aquileia.net). Another interesting
city is Palmanova that it is also called “The Fortress Town” because
of its peculiar enneagon shaped fortification made up of three sets of city
walls ( see www.palmanova.it).
Trieste is the capital of the region and used to be a part of the
Austro-Hungarian empire . Nice buildings are all around the city and a visit to
the Castello Miramare is a must .(www.castello-miramare.it
