Umbria
Another green
Region with vestiges of the Etruscan and Roman civilization . The Umbria capital is Perugia (www.bellaumbria.net/perugia)
that is a notable artistic centre . The best monument is The Priors Palace
built between the 13th and 15th centuries. Travelling
the roads of Umbria is a journey full of surprises ; you can find a mixture of
art and culture (Perugia) together with mystical/spirituality places like Assisi
–World Peace City and Unesco World Heritage Site – where St.Francis was
born , Gubbio , (link with the popular story of St.Francis and the wolf
of Gubbio) with a medieval/renaissance city but with Roman traces like the
Roman Theatre (1st century B.C.) ; Todi chosen by the
University of Kentucky as a model of sustainable city (for the web site of
these cities you can search www.bellaumbria.net
/ with the name of the city after the slash)
My Suggestions:
In addition to
the above mentioned cities I would like to show you small villages like Bevagna
, one of the best preserved ancient villages in Italy (www.borghitalia.it), Spello (www.bellaumbria.net/spello) and Spoleto
with its Roman Theatre.
