Lombardy
The Region
includes the various major Italian Lakes ( some on Lombardy/ Piedmont border) :
Part of Lago Maggiore, Lago di Como and the south shore of Lago di Garda
The regional
capital is Milan which can boast several examples of Romanesque and Gothic
architecture .
My Suggestions:
In Milan to visit the Cathedral ( Duomo) , The Last Supper by Leonardo da
Vinci, www.cenacolovinciano.it
(the Dominican Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie which houses the fresco is Unesco
World Heritage Site), The Sforza Castle and the Scala Theatre ( Opera
House) ; Vigevano with its beautiful Ducal Square ; The upper town of Bergamo
“a truly historic and artistic jewel” ; Mantua ( Unesco World Heritage site)
famous for the Gonzaga Palace ( Ducal Palace) ; and, of course the lakes
( Maggiore, Como and Garda) .
